Raytheon rethinks strategy to compete in military satellite market

WASHINGTON — Raytheon Technologies last month won a $250 million contract to build seven missile-detection satellites for the U.S. Space Development Agency.  David Broadbent, president of space and command-and-control systems at Raytheon Intelligence & Space, said the company is working to deliver the seven satellites by 2025 but plans to pursue a different strategy in future SDA satellite procurements. Rather than compete as a prime contractor offering fully integrated satellites, Raytheon wants to shift to a merchant supplier role, providing satellite buses and payloads to other prime contractors.

US job market remains strong despite recent layoff announcements

The U.S. job market started 2024 on a very strong note as 353,000 jobs were added to the economy during January, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said.  The January figures outpaced a strong close to 2023, when the U.S. job market added 216,000 jobs during the month of December.
