Star removes River Trail bridge as water levels continue to rise

STAR, Idaho — The City of Star Parks crew has removed the Star River Trail Bridge due to the rising water levels and increased flow of the Boise River.
The Army Corps of Engineers reports the Boise River is currently flowing at 5,800 cubic feet per second (cfs) but could likely reach 6,500 cfs in the coming weeks as the weather warms up.
Mayor Chadwick of Star along with authorities throughout the area urge people to keep their families and pets safe by avoiding the area for the time being. The river is running cold, deep and fast right now and will continue to increase as the Army Corps of Engineers attempts to make space for the incoming snow melt as temperatures rise.
