Japhet, son of Noah : Family tree by Cecelia HOGUE (chogue)

Japheth is traditionally seen as the ancestor of Europeans, as well as some more eastern nations; thus Japhetic has been used as a synonym for Caucasians. Caucasian itself derives in part from the assumption that the tribe of Japheth developed its distinctive racial characteristics in the Caucasus, where Mount Ararat is located.
Genesis 9:27 May God expand Japheth, so that he dwells among the tents of Shem; and let Canaan be his slave. Genesis 10: Table of the Nations. The descentants of Japheth are the peoples of the Indo-European languages to the north and west of Mesopotamia and Syria. Japheth is the father of the Japhetic race Japhet: youngest or eldest son of Noah. He had 15 sons, amongst whom he divided Europe, and the part of Asia his father had allotted to him. "Japhet, the son of Noah, had seven sons: they inhabited so, that, beginning at the mountains Taurus and Amanus, they proceeded along Asia, as far as the river Tanais (Don), and along Europe to Cadiz; and settling themselves on the lands which they light upon, which none had inhabited before, they called the nations by their own names."
His descendants were the founders of all the peoples to the north and west of the Fertile Crescent.
