BYU program is reaccredited - Church News
The Accreditation Council of the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) recently awarded BYU's J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott School of Management reaccreditation of several of its key programs.
The BYU graduate and undergraduate management degree programs, as well as the bachelor's degree in accounting and the master of accountancy degree, achieved reaccreditation after an 18-month AACSB review of the School of Management's class offerings, faculty credentials and class loads."Approximately 1,200 colleges and universities in the United States offer undergraduate business degrees, but only 268 are accredited by AACSB," said Delora Bertelsen, administrative assistant to Dean K. Fred Skousen.
"Of the more than 600 master's degree programs offered in the United States, 268 are AACSB accredited, with only 97 schools having achieved accreditation in accounting in various degree levels," she added.
During the accreditation process, the School of Management was visited and evaluated by business school deans, accounting educators and corporate executives.
The AACSB, headquartered in St. Louis, Mo., is comprised of more than 800 educational organizations and corporations dedicated to the improvement of higher education in business management.
It is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation as the sole accrediting agency for graduate and undergraduate programs in business administration and accounting.
